Resetting speedo

As I'm getting the engine rebuilt for my 1071 I would like to reset the speedo too, so it reflects the actual miles done. Would there be a fairly easy way to do this? It was rebuilt some time ago however it has raked up some miles in the meantime.

Not really aloud to do that as its mileage of the car not the engine.

Car is undergoing a ground up resto and the speedo isn't the original one that came with the car, so I don't think it should have to be such an issue.

Its relatively easy to disassemble the speedo and alter the odometer reading.

As Tim says its easy to open up the speedo unit & rotate the numbers by hand. The main thing you need to avoid doing is forcing the ratchet the wrong way. Other than that you can't really go too far wrong.
You could also ask a specialist to do this for you if you are getting the speedo head reconditioned.
