Early Mini van

Post by rolesyboy »

Hi All. I have been offered a mates dads early Mini van with 3 letters 3 number registration. Sat in a barn for years, looks like it has a smooth roof, stubby rear quarter bumpers and sadly he has chopped out the side panels and inserted 60's 'de rigeur' rear windows. Not seen it yet only 3 camera photos. Any clues how much its worth in need of a decent resto and what it will be worth finished. Never had a van before and not sure how restorable or desirable they are (I know they are desirable but don't keep an eye on them enough to get to grips with it) but I do fancy doing it and need to know what to budget for. Any input or tips appreciated. cheers. Mark

Hi Mark,

Price depends very much on condition and age. Earlier the better value wise, better the condition the more it's worth, both now and when restored. With very little information to go on it's difficult to assess for a price but vans are definitely going up in value. A pre 64 van, complete but in need of full resto, £1000-£1500, needing the new side panels the lower end of that I would say. A 60 van would be worth much more! £2500+. When restored £6000-£10000 depending on age and condition.

I suspect that Bill's costings are not a million miles out.

But as with all these things CONDITION IS PARAMOUNT!
