1962 Morris cooper

Post by Andycooper »

It seems I have recently acquired a Morris cooper
It's a bit rough well it's a basket case the 997 engine
And v5 is with it has a right hand tank just the front
Seats missing not as if they would be any good just
Wondering if anyone on here would be intrested in it
Or could give me an idea of what it's worth
Thanks
Andy

For some reason on the log book it says it's a 998 but I'm sure the 998 was not used in1962 am I right in thinking this and how would I find out if it's wrong ?

..and a shell swap if it's a '62 (later shell), it's certainly had a life !

Yes , the seat belt points are the lower type . So all that is original by the look of it is the logbook ?

A 62 shell would have the high seat belt points , So its been shelled into a later Mk1 shell , Has it got a fresh air intake into the car (o/s bulk head ) ??

Lots of cars got reshelled Andy and the numbers screwed on to the donor shell, it's no biggy but oddly the reg number 698 CWT doesn't come up on the DVLA search for Austin or Morris.

And I very much doubt that the wrong shell matters much now any way unless someone has Alot of time and money to rebuild the shell piece by peice

Yes totally agree . How much of the interior is left and is it the Brocade type ? . Also what colour was the car originally on the logbook or do you have a heritage Cert for the car

If you have a V5 (not a buff logbook) it should 99.9% of the time be on the computer. If it's not then it could have been removed at a time when DVLA's computer system ran out of space in the 90's when they deleted a quantity of them (that hadn't been taxed for donkeys) by all accounts to make room and so you'd have to re apply for a V5C using the V765 scheme.

Over and out.
