Hi all
I part own a share in this and my mate has decided he now definitely wants it sold.
The car is like others on here marked on the logbook as a 1960 Austin A30! the wrong engine size (1100) an also i think in blue!
After having a good look at the shell i noticed it has had a rear light conversion so I rang the owner (lovely guy in his 60s who used it as a daily for over 25 years! as well as rallying it) and he said that he changed it to square lights " back in the day" and then back to round! i have to say I do trust him.
What I dont understand with the shell is it has mountings for belts? can any give there thoughts on the age of the shell from the pics please?

Cheers all

Re: The old rally min - advice please
I'd date the shell between late '60 - June '63 (recessed screens, high seat belt mounts). Is the FE number still there ?
If the seat crossmember is the original (this car has had some repairs I see) it's possible to be more specific (are
the seat mounts the early welded on type ?)

Yes it's certainly had a life hasn't it ? The shell certainly looks to be a couple of years younger than the registration with it's roof drip rails, later seat brackets etc, maybe a '62 ? There's some much better qualified than me to add all the clues together.

There is a small slide show of it in action with previous owner and his wife in 91 (i think) on my homepage (give it time and pics will change)

I drove it to work for a month or so, big grins all round but then i remembered my modern car has no fumes inside, is a smooth ride, and no crunchy third gear, and you dont have to faff with a harness to go to tesco express!- old age makes you appreciate comforts!
Original plan was to strip and build a decentish shiney red and white usual works replica but when i met the owner and saw how much patina it had the plan went out the window! He remembers buying the Tony Pond rally seats new! it has lots of old quirky fittings which I just loved. Its paintwork is nothing to look at but the car oozes character and smells like a old un

WFO is from a series of (FO) numbers allocated to cars that have had the original registrations transferred. It wouldn't surprise me if what you have an an old Mini with an A30 logbook grafted on to transfer a valuable number plate - having said that, the A30 was replaced by the A35 in 1956 and the A35 dropped in 1959, replaced by the Mini.
What are the first five or six digits on the chassis number? (letters and numbers).
