I had a 1960 Morris Mini - Minor which was described as a Morris Minor on the log book. There was nothing suspicious about the car & all the numbers matched up ok.

thanks chaps ,

maybe they were a little confused by the austin seven 'A30' being discontinued in 56 ,then the 'austin seven' starting up in 1959 ,before it became 'mini' in later years .

so the person filling in the id back in 1959/60 just assumed it was a A30 because it was a 'austin seven' .

if you see what i mean .

I have seen all sorts of weird descriptions on early log books. This was not unusual in the pre computerised days.

My 998 '66 Cooper original log book had 970cc written in as the capacity. It was without doubt a 998 car and the engine no was correct. I always assumed that the person filling in the form Just thought of the last one they did for a Cooper and wrote the same capacity.

Just as well DVLA don't make mistakes anymore......

My Cooper was/is currently registered as a "Morris Mini", even though it is a Cooper. Fortunately this is an easier problem to resolve than yours, due to the Cooper Chassis numbers being different to the non-cooper cars.

I was told all of these problems now were caused by mistakes by the people filling in the forms upon registration.

Car colour is another thing that varies alot on V5's, some two cars listed as monotone from new. A well at least it's something else to fix!
