Seat dilemma

Just bought a pair of Newton Commercial recliners from a guy last night. The seats are porcelain green with grey centre and they have not been used but I really want to fit them in my Island Blue car and replace my highly offensive RS Turbo leather recaros
My dilemma is this. As the covers are brand new and cost £230 each to replace  would it be feasible to paint the vinyl cumulus grey. Does anybody have experience of any of these vinyl spray paints in terms of longevity and can you get a colour match to colours such as cumulus. I presume you can as the smart repair guys make colour matched repairs to leather/plastic and vinyl. I have enough original bracade to replace the centre panels.
OR
does somebody want to swap some cumulus/brocade recliner covers from mine!!!
Cheers. Mark

Morning Mark,

Here's my two pence worth: I have tried a couple of different vinyl recolouring products, vinyl kote being one and I can't remember the other.

I found that they were ok for door cards/trim etc but not that great for any hardwearing items like seats. In fact, even on door cards the new colour seemed to wear off around winders/handles.

They were fine on my typical budget banger classics but I wouldn't use them on anything else.

I'm sure there are folks on here who know more about it than me though.

Cheers,

Damian

Did you get them off MCR Forum? If you want to sell them I would be interested.

There are professional vinyl re-colouring services that can custom mix the dye to match any colour you want. I've seen it done on repairs to furniture and the repair is indistinguishable from the surrounding area.

Thanks Tim I have done my research and it seems that a firm called Bradleys provide one of the best solutions. Colour matched to my swatch etc and everybody who has used their product said it is extremely flexible and hard wearing so I will be ordering the paint next week (unless Steve1071 wants the covers?- you have a pm BTW Steve)
Damian- thanks for your comments, evidently if you use a particular solvent it works brilliantly but as ever the prep is crucial. Cheers folks. Mark

If your car is Island Blue then the seats should have gold brocade/grey centre panels whereas the green/grey seats will have plain grey centre panels.

Hi Simon. Thankfully I have enough Brocade to replace the respective centre panels and have to say that whilst the Newton Brocade isn't always brilliant in terms of gold alignment their monotone vinyl is superb. It is indistinguishable from the real thing having put them side by side with my original trim.
