"A never-been-done-before trek of 11,063km in under 40 days, driving all the way to the Great Pyramid and back in a 50 year old Mini - ten countries, three continents...A lone expedition, it would undoubtedly be an epic and arduous drive, without a support crew, enduring potholes, sandstorms and occasional wayward camels; but it would also be an incredible adventure, with every mile the car covered helping children devastated by life threatening disease. This book follows Nicky's journey from preparing the Mini, to crossing the scorching sands of North Africa and the Middle East, all the way to the exhaustion and sheer elation of finishing with a wave of the chequered flag at Castle Combe racetrack."

Quite an adventure!

Reminds me of a story Neville Trickett told me of how he & a mate drove a Citroen 2CV from Malaya back to England overland in the 1950's. Coincidently he was arrested & interrogated as a spy by the Turks on the way! He made it back OK, but I think the 2CV is still languishing in a Turkish prison.

I'll certainly second that, what an adventure & achievement. Well done! The book should be a very good read. I remember back in the late '60's Duckhams Oil had a couple of drivers take a Mini Cooper across the Sahara Desert, it survived & was in daily use after it's return. Anyone else remember that? The reg no of the car was something like MMD848C ( may have been 845C)
