Tonight after work I decided to take the mini 2 miles from the workshop back home, I took the scenic route and called in on my brother who ended up not being at home so I got home and was proud at how many people where looking at the mini.

Then when I got out I realised why so many more people had been looking at it tonight... NO BONNET!! Ha ha, in my haste to get out of the workshop before it went dark I drove away with out the bonnet.

I rushed back to the workshop all the way hoping that it hadn't fallen off and luckily it was there on the side...

Phew.

Yep! did that with my rally car, for a few minutes it was a great feeling that all these nice people were looking at the car, many were even waving, I thought 'Fame at last!' Then came the realisation with the feeling of horror, "OMG, where is it?" Luckily, at home in the garage!

that happened to me once. I forgot to put my bonnet pins in.. doing about 40mph in a pedestrian area it flick up in the air.

I did not run over it though...

Especially if you happen to live in the sticks. :P

I might invest in a pair of those new fangled articulating bonnet hinges when M.Spares bring out the MK1 / MK2 version.

Once when i was a bit wilder, got to some traffic ligths to stop on front. You know allready where this is going?Once taken off i always be gentle in the first gear, then smash the power on after the other gears.
When we were doing some 160 km/h my bonnet lock broke off,and decided to make a stand up possition.
It took some scary move's to get to the side, but as we were way ahead of the rest of the car's it was not dangerues. The porsche even stopped and checked everything was ok.Nice to do ,and we have seen each other more than once at the traffic near Gent again.
