If you mean the MiniSport vented steel rims yes they have had issues. Dave (Mk1 rally) was using the 4 1/2's and had a total tyre deflation on an event earlier this year when he cornered hard, not ideal !

Could it be that they don't have the raised 'humps' in the rim that are meant to retain the beads on tubeless tyres? I've had trouble in the past with tyre fitters refusing to fit tubeless tyres to Mini rims because they were missing.

"Proper" S rims don't have "J" ridges either.... The ridges came along long after the S rim and was invented to stop soft tyres deflating completely (when the tyre bead drops into the centre gutter).
Its possible to roll a tyre off the rim but it usually only happens with under-inflated tyres... I've autocrossed, motorkhanad and hill climbed on S rims and never lost a tyre.
Cheers, Ian

I've used Minisport 'S' rims for 3 years now , and used them HARD , never had a problem withs tyres coming off.
