John Sheppard, original owner of my 970S

I was in the North Island on the weekend and took the opportunity to visit (for the first time) the 2nd owner of my 970S, who raced and hillclimbed it in the mid '60s.
It's the first time meeting him, but have been in contact before, and already had lots of photos and race programs from him via the guy I bought the car from,
I got a new photo, which I think is a cracker, which I will share with you,
I also took some of him with his trophies.
This Is John Sheppard, who had my Surf Blue 970, his brother Barry, had a Tweed Grey 970, with the consecutive rego number.
Sadly, Barry passed away a number of years ago, and the grey 970 has been sold to a new owner in Australia.

This is January 1967 at the NZGP meet in Pukekoe, just south of Auckland.

and I thought that the AM/LM antenna on my Volvo was tall

Rich, He didn't actually see his old car... I flew up this time, next time we drive up, hopefully in October!
1000 miles or so on a 4.1....Bring it on!
Gray, I'm sure i'll end up with them one day
Meanwhile another early owner of the car has offered me all his hillclimb trophies he won with the car

Yes, original old "Green dot" CR65's
I don't drive round on them much, I have some 008's for that
