Hi I wonder if anyone can help, I want to remove the headliner in my mk1 super-delux so that I can paint the interior back to original colour. Is it possible to remove headiner resonably easy and replace it back in after painting. Headliner looks new.

Fairly easy although a tight fit, obviously. Just loosen the screws where the two sections connect, then slowly but firmly pull the edges/corners where the screws were down one by one a bit at each side until you can grip them with both hands. Then an even, slow, firm pull on both the o/s and n/s at the same time should move it out of position.

I use a broad, flat putty knife to pry along the front edge to start the liner moving back.

You're welcome. I've done this a couple of times and I've found the trick is to not pull the one side more than the other. Getting it back in is harder than pulling it out  But the only really tricky part is getting the front most and rear most edges to sit nicely and flush against the roof railing (or whatever that part of the roof is called).

Abri is right, putting it back in is much harder than removing it. I used a little bit of vaseline on the shell to help the frames sliding. The problem is if the headliner is not really stretched, it will have the tendency to wrinkle in some places as you push it into place.
