Hi there just entering the world of mk1 ownership!

Hi all

Only the second time I've ever posted on a forum so appologies if this is the wrong thing in the wrong place!

Have had a 1972 1275gt for ages now but decided it was time to cause myself a headache and buy a ml1 the one I got was reg april1960 and is about 32000th off the production line at cowley from what I can make out on the vin plate info. it's in a very sorry state with the previous owner cutting off all the bodywork and putting a space frame onto it for a Banham sprint. (I know I was feeling brave when I bought it!!!) he eventually realised that banham went bust in 2004 so gave up on it. So I have a very good floor pan sills bulkheads and inner arches, a decent front subframe and a rear beem that seems pretty solid engine and box but it's a rod type box (boo!) The rear beem will be returned to a subframe when I come to reassemble the car!

I'm a pretty competent fabricator but have hit a couple of snags!
1. The vin no. Hasn't got a modle code in it that I had sort of expected!
2. I believe from what I read on here that window frames etc are different on the mk1
I want to know if there is anywhere to get the mk1 frames etc or atleast the measurements/tech drawings so I can have a go myself or if anyone has a mk1 shell kicking around that would be for sale? And also how to trace the car heritage to see what modle I should be aiming for! I'm not really down for making a copper replica just want a concourse mk1 to run about with my kid in and pop to the odd show!
I know there's nothing you can't fix but with heritage parts not available for the bits I need it's a big one! Any advise welcome
Thanks
Paul
