wouldnt a 66 1275 s have had a factory fitted rh tank?, or was it possible to special order a 1275 s without the tank, and the std badges????

It's a 1965 build, 1966 registered so is definately hunky dory. I remember looking at this car about three years ago when it's long time owner was selling it for about...£8K I think, maybe less. It was stored in a garage with a leaky roof ( hence the rusty bits) and was on breeze blocks I think , it didn't have the dash and Speedwell wheels with it then but was otherwise exactly the same, a real timewarper. The Cooper S badging was removed in period. I'm sure Will bought it but never started the resto (been there done that). No doubt JD will be asking huge wonga for it, I'll hazard a guess at over twenty big ones ?!!

No, no progress on mine I'm afraid. I have decided to get the body done by someone else, as I can't be arsed to do it. So would welcome suggestions for good body / paint guys in the North of England who do a first class job, I'm happy to pay decent money to the right person.

The Alloy wheels in the picture were not available in 1966, they came out in 1969, & the dash in the photo is not a Speedwell one. I too remember this car coming to the light of day about 5 or 6 years ago, and I agree with Pete Will G did buy it at the time. Would make a very interesting resto.

I don't have any problem with a single tank S registered in 1966 as most people will have preferred the twin tank option when it came out so some late 65 S's with single tanks would have hung around for a while.

I had a 1275s HYB957D that was built in april 65 delivered to a dealer in Gloucester but registered a year later in Devon

Simon Drew at Mini Works? I understand that whilst we are winning most of your medals at the olympics we are being regarded as the North of England.

Pandora, I think you will find that currently Yorkshire are about 11th in the table of medals won. I'm pretty sure that we are in the north of England.
