Is there anyone here from Hong Kong?
This is the Hong Kong Specialty License Plate from the '60s on my car. I was wondering if there was a way to trace the owner(s) there. The car is an export model delivered Hong Kong and shipped to Southern California in '71.

Hi Jim, that was a really old plate!!! Without prefix.
I just checked transport dept online, this no. is still using.
But we can't check the current owner(don't know if we can apply details in the dept.)
But in HK, these special plates are normally actively selling and buying so the owners may have changed many times, and not know about your Cooper. But on the contrast, the owner may keep this special plate for its uniqueness.
I'll see hows the procedures(if any) to apply details of no. plate.
Cheers
Ted

Great Ted.
The car is a Cooper S and I'll mail you the vin#. It was produced late Nov. '65 so would have arrived HongKong in '66.
From what I've read some special numbers and sequences hold special meanings or are thought to be lucky, and as such are highly prized license numbers. I don't think this is one of those numbers, and since the car left HongKong in '71 the number itself has probably changed hands a bunch of times.
