I bought a mk1 shell recently which looked great and had a lot of welding done already. The a panels have been poorly fitted and when i've gone to offer the doors up its a no go.
We have removed the outer a panel and looking to refit as the inner a panel has been seam welded.
In short has anyone got an idiots guide to fitting the a panels that i can look at as it is not that clear in the restoration manual we have
Thanks Steve

Hi

I am just rebuilding a similar area on my own Mk1. The best way is to duck tape/ wedge the door into position making sure the gaps are correct around the top/bottom/rear side. You really want about 3+ to 5 mm gap at the rear of door and at the bottom of door. Make sure all your gaps are parallel and make sure the door doesn't move. Then offer your A panel up, get it straight, get the gap right and make sure the hinge holes are in line with the door and the hinges will fit and then tack it in position. It aint easy!
