Wolseley 1000 Colour?

I am restoring an SA spec Wolseley 1000. The original colour is identical to the one in the attached brochure. Does anyone know what colour the body and the roof is? I've tried Ryno, and he is not too sure.
Many thanks,
Leon

Hi,
It's always difficult to "pinpoint" exact shades from artists impressions, but it appears to be the same colour scheme as my 63' 'Hornet' .
'Bermuda Blue' with 'Old English White' roof. But arguably from your picture it could also be 'Iris Blue',with OEW.
Hope this paint chart helps you decide.
Cheers Gareth

Hi Leon,

Hi Leon,
any pix of the car yet ? what car number is it ? mine is Nr. 292 .
the blue of the hornet in ebay is much to intense!
according to the minimania site and the bmc colours shown there, I would say Honolulu Blue, if its a bmc colour at all !
the roof is Protea White !

Leon, the colour on that picture looks like it could be a representation of the colour of the mini in this link
http://kznmini.europefreeforum.com/mini ... t2124.html
The owner of this mini calls the blue "speedwell blue" and found it named as such at a local paint shop by the sounds of things. May be worthwhile to get in touch.

I collected the radius nipple shrouds off the Wolseley to have the paint matched. In bright sun the rear of the car looks light blue (see car on the left in the pic below), however in the shade it is much darker and more grey. Certainly looks darker than my Dove Grey car. The front view and shrouds give a better sense of the original colour.
This is car number 109, thus the 9th SA spec Mk1 Wolseley. Gareth, after looking at your car again, I think mine is more grey than blue. Any futher suggestions on the possible colour welcomed!
Leon

Hi Leon ,
After seeing those parts in still in their original colour, I am pretty sure that is 'Aquamarine' BU43,popular colour on A40 Farina's(amongst others)

Hi Gareth
Aquamarine is a beautiful colour. At the paint shop today the shrouds matched the Smoke Grey (BU15) colour chart exactly. I must admit it is the strangest colour, looks blueish from certain angles, greenish from others and grey in the shade...
Thanks again for your input, will post pics when the car is painted.
Regards,
Leon

The Wolseley has been stripped, and in a rather undignified manner, turned on its head. New boot lid and seam covers required, as well as a fair bit of work to the front and rear valances. Other than that she was in a pretty good condition, with almost no rust. Hopefully not too long before she is painted.

The A40 colour was actually Horizon Blue BU17.
Aquamarine was not introduced until later. First car I recall it being used on is the Riley Kestrel. It was also used on the Mk2 1100/1300 range. BMC had a huge range of colours many of which were rather similar and identifying them from a photograph on a computer screen is never easy!
I would not in any case expect a South African assembled car to be finished in a BMC UK colour. Even the Irish assembled CKD cars used their own colour range.
Good luck with your restoration of such an unusual variant!

Shell has been painted and I'm chuffed with the result. Some work left to do on the boot and bonnet, then the assembly can start.

Looks very nice. Yes, quite a different gray from the Dove Gray of my Wolseley 1000.
