Lock barrel replacement

I have identified the FS key number for the ignition and boot lock, but the key does not work in the drivers door. Two things;
Is it possible to get a barrel for a particular key (I know you can sort it the other way round) and any suggestions on how to push the locking bolt back into the handle so I can remove the escutcheon?

You just need to rotate the key until the locking segment is half way between locked/unlocked, you should then be able to remove the escutcheon, maybe need to rotate it a little to align the slots with the segment. You can then drift out the barrel retainer pin and withdraw the barrel using the key. I had the same problem regarding identifying a barrel to a key number so just decided to change the barrel set instead to give me a single key for boot/door locks.

You can take the barrel apart and mix 'n match the "tumblers" with some spare barrels.
I have even cheated sometimes when I didn't have enough of the right tumblers, I got it as close as possible and just filed the protruding part of the misfit bumblers off to be flush with the barrel.

Sorted. The locksmith picked the lock, got the barrel out and played with the tumblers to fit my existing key. Cheers.
The locksmith reckoned I'd been watching too much TV but with a bit of persuasion I got him to have a go.

Apologies, I completely overlooked the fact that your key didn't work in the lock..................... ignore my advice in future
