parts painting question

Post by olddad »

Having never seen an actual new Mini I have a question about what parts were not painted at all.

I am ready to paint some Mk1 suspension parts and am wondering if the struts, front and rear, were painted. I don't think the rear swing arms were, nor the front upper and lower arms and hub carrier.

Is this correct?

No, most suspension parts were with painted chassis black like the subframes

That will make my project easier since I cleaned all the parts down to bare metal and painted them with rustoleum primer many years ago when I tore the '59 apart. Satin black will be easy. Thanks IB.

I'd forgotten how weird the welded together rear struts look.

The welded ones are also lighter.
