Hello everybody!
it's a long time now i have been reading your posts with a lot of interest. it's a long time i have been dreaming of mini. but it's only a short time my dream came true.
i'm 33 years old, father of a few children. for the first time in my life i had enough money for a mini, one for a restoration. i've been searching for a mk1... after a few months i found one in the south of spain. i booked a plane for me and a friend. the car was as good as i expected it to be. a 1964 austin seven in it's juice. so we started the engine and made our way back to switzerland (over 2000km). it was later afternoon when we started and to my bigger surprise, we got caught in a snow storm in the south of spain. the following day we made little progress, around five hundred km and blew 2 tires. we had to stop to buy tires. we finally found a very kind guy ready to help us. the car was back on it's wheel on the next afternoon. as me and my colleague had to work on day 4, we drove almost 1500km motorway in one shot, just stopping for gas and for electrical repairs.
we did it and it was a wonderful trip. only the last five hundred km by minus temperatures outside and inside the car because the heater didn't want anymore... we finally arrived at 5 in the morning and went to work at 7.
after a few issue for the registration, i started to strip the little blue thing.
that's the beginning of my first mini story.

That could indicate either a stuck thermostat? or low water level in the radiator?

Hi Jens and thank you for your answers.
I know it's a mini and it was more of a surprise it arrived home.
for the heater, it was the low water level, but my hands were so cold that i couldn't open the radiator anymore....
