This looks to be a good example of the species.

Ooh now that is pretty. I wonder if they are much better than a regular Mini. Must weigh a bit and that formica must rattle. Ah well I guess I will never know.....

I remember when SussexSportsCars had this car in the 90's, can't remember it being a left hooker though and to have converted it to a LHD would have been a big (and ruinous) job on that car ! Anyone remember it ? I'm sure I've a photo or two of it from back then.

It's original engine is gone for something more modern and bigger but the timber in the dash looks to be original, if you put the timber in the original RHD order the grain will line up. He had this Cooper for sale last week for $40,000 so I'd say the reserve is high. Would be nice to see it on this side of the world again.

Such a shame it went Stateside to then have the ignomy of being converted to being cack hand drive.
Perhaps someone in the UK should acquire say an Elvis Caddilac and convert it to RHD?!
LEAVE THINGS OF HISTORICAL IMPORTANCE ALONE!

Agree, but the worst thing is the original Black Connolly hide is replaced, with what looks to be plastic/vinyl ?
( maybe its Mexican leather ? )
Also lost its Lucas spots.

I was just thinking the same thing ! The grilles' gone aswell as the lamps, the dash looks to have been replicated aswell in the switch over to cock hand drive. Wonder whether it had a Downton 998 motor before the 1300 A+ arrived ? £25K wouldn't have been
that far out had it not been messed around with but judging by the bids it doesn't look like the Yanks are that interested, maybe if they cut the roof off and stick a spoiler on the front ?
I remember a lovely and very original Tweed Grey 1965 S sold by SussexSportsCars to the States some years after this one was. They launched all of it's original trim in favour of Newton Red/Grey (??) and that went to cock hand drive aswell. There's also a similar 1071 Radford over there for sale at the minute, looks a nice car. It was sold the the U.S owner by a well known West Country specialist some years ago without it's logbook and engine/chassis plates which were 'accidentally on purpose' lost before it was shipped.
