steering rack

hi all need a steering rack for my mk1

somerford say

the mk1 rack is superseeded to the mk2 part number does this fit without any probs

whats part number for a mark 1 steering rack? cause ill see if i have one

I have 2 spare i got with laods mark 1/2 parts

A Mk2 rack will fit a Mk1 but you need different tie-rod ends, they are longer ............. I'm pretty sure !!
( Edit) Hmmm, I stated tie rod ends, I was meaning to say steering arms !! I'm going nuts !! Thanks 1071S

Well... no. But you do need new steering arms - well you don't REALLY need them, in that the car will drive OK without them. But I'm told the matching steering arms work better...something to do with Akkermann (sp??) angles. and the factory fitted them as a set.
The BIG deal is the 3 feet or so they (Mk II setup that is) chops off the turning circle diameter....
Well worth it IMHO.
