This is a free forum & members are free to post whatever they want.

BUT

Personally speaking I am not keen on starting a running thread on this topic. The danger with this type of thread is that eventually every Mini supplier in the world ends up on it as no company can give 100% satisfaction.

I would much prefer that people add their recommendations to the recommended parts supplier section that already exists.

HOWEVER

If anyone wants to have a rant about any given supplier in a single thread. . .go for it.

Well I won't mention a name then but I was sold (on eBay) a set of 'S' points that were standard and the little buggers won't even reply to email/phone, etc......and it's gone past "bad feedback" time!
For your information everyone (unless you think different), the thickness of the spring must 24 thou min and the width at least 220 thou.
Anything less will not give you your 'S' standard 32oz tension. Therefore a set with a 19 x 216 thou spring will not.

Grrrr :x

Neither, just the description of 'S' points. Can't see this sort of thing going on at Minispares but they were out of stock at the time.

We are on Turbo minis site as a company not to be recommended and i did everything to try and keep the customer happy to find us on there by accident. I agree with Mark it is really easy to end up on there but not so easy to get it off as i found with the turbo minis site. The Mini crowd is a great bunch of people to deal with but the odd one really make it a very hard place to trade in as we have found to our cost at times. :D

WOW! just read that relevant thread! To be honest, I think you came out on top of that one, big man! Nice to see.

I agree, you came out of that very well, as recognised by the people on the forum, that ended up as a more postive thread to you than some of the 'recommended ones'.

Must sting being in the same section as Morspeed though

'Just spent the last hour looking at the bizarre, and it has to be said rather salacious, TurboMinis site Forum. Hmmm :o . Unfortunately, some of the lads there reminded me of what I was like in my late teens/early 20s - a little bit naive and also a bit too proud to ask anyone else where to get bits or have work done. Nothing beats a referral from a satisfied customer. If the internet has done nothing else, it has at least made making a judgement on where to purchase a lot more reliable.

And here I am, moaning on about 12 quid! :?

Thanks for the nice comments. He never collected his money though but just last week did his mates lowered Corsa so think all came out well in the end. Yes it does hurt when you see yourself on a bad thread but tought it was better to try and sort it out than leave it without comment like a lot of companies have done. :D

All power to your elbow Andy!

The Turbo Minis forum is a very odd one. There are without a shadow of a doubt some very very knowledgeable people on there, but they aren't necessarily the ones that "Make most noise".

The trouble is that many of us are along way from the centre of the Mini universe. We make phone calls, - we used to write letters - we send our money and we wait.

Unfortunately more often than is reasonable we get screwed... sent the wrong item, the item looks nothing like the picture in the catalogue, the item is a cheap and nasty replica that doesn't really fit and .... we wait ..and wait (yes the item is in stock (well last time I looked anyway...)) and often the price is not what was agreed.

All hail the credit card. The bank is your friend.

We realise that sometimes things go wrong ... but it shouldn't be the norm (which it (depressingly often) is).

Way back when we talked to our mates and maybe spread the word at Minimeets... but it was a small group. The internet however has done something to level the playing field. People can bitch. And others can take note. We can listen to the argument and make decisions.

Name and shame .. and if the supplier disagrees then defend yourself... It doesn't take long to work out who knows what they're talking about.

Thanks Mark for providing the opportunity to participate a little more in the Mini world....

Cheers, Ian

Anybody knows Andrew Collinson, aka ca2s7577245, Retro Minis Ltd, on Ebay... ?

I've bought him some items on Ebay, but never got the products or answers to my emails/messages.. Actually I've opened a "case", he doesn't seems interested in answering to paypal or ebay too...

Should I put him on the "non recommended suppliers list" ?

dont get me started on "the turbo mini's forum" no offence to the guys.. well actually.. haha, what a load of jumped up handles they are so quick to shoot you down or have dig.. i think the problem is that there are only a hand full of guys on there that actually know what they are doing and the rest read everything they say and repeat it over and over again. They seem to be like children, and spoilt ones at that, theres no sense of helping someone out of a pickle but instead try to have a go humiliate them. its a shame really, but also such a great thing that there all housed in one little place and stay away from the like of this site!!!! thank god!

I thought he only sold other people's stuff (Minisport/Minispares) at inflated prices which begs the question why anyone would buy from him :?: I presume the orders are picked and posted to his Ebay customers straight from said suppliers without him stocking anything. Either way he's sold alot of gear on Ebay over the years so there's obviously a market there , baffles me why his customers don't just buy from Minispares/Sport direct though.
