Dash vinyl, early fine grain?

Does anyone know where you can get black vinyl for the dash in the same grain as the Mk1 speedo pod?

I have original top rail vinyl and also A pillar pieces with the metal backing, and they are exactly the same grain as the 3 guage speedo pod,
Was this stuff only used on very early cars?

Have googled black vinyl, but mainly just got fetish costumes.....

Hi

I seem to remember seeing a new roll of some the other day included in some bits I bought. I will have a dig around at weekend

I've always found the Somerford's stuff the closest to original

I agree with steve1071

Somerfords black vinyl is definitely closest to original.

The very early Cooper's and Super's do have a slightly different grain finish, some of the top dash rails are a piece of very fragile moulded plastic. I have spent quite a while looking for a replacement for my own car, however I have used the 'Somerford' vinyl as a replacement, it is the best available.

Thanks for the replies boys, i'll get some from somerford.

sounds like the early fine grain stuff was only on the very early cars anyway, and wouldn't be right for mine which is an Oct 64,
