Hi there

I bought the front end of a old mini several years ago and I need some help identifiying the engine and gearbox. I think the engine could be a 997 cooper 1963 but I'm not sure ??? The numbers on the block are 21087.28 and 12A204. The number on the cylinder head is 12G202, I think this is a weslake head ??? The gearbox number is 22G1128. I would be grateful for any info on these numbers, I also have the original V5 logbook from the car so I want to find out if it all matches up ? Hopefully pics attached

The block, cylinder head and rocker cover are correct for a 1963 997cc Cooper. The flywheel housing and the crank pulley are correct too.
The gearbox is a later item, synchromeshed on all gears (late 1968 onwards).

What are the numbers on the crank, dizzy, and inlet manifold? The manifold looks like a 12A309 but has been drilled before.

Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for info. The crank has been ground/balanced it has got 12A...A on one side at the other end it has been stamped H1, on the other side it's got owog (mowog ground out) and possibly 298. I have got 2 dizzies I don't know which one belongs to the engine the numbers are 40774A 1162 and 41030L 0573. You were spot on with the inlet manifold. The carb body number is AUC1341. Thanks for any info on above

The distributor dated November '62 would be correct, the other is from May '73.
