Just been invited along with a group of mates to the Spa 6 Hours, anyone been before?
Just noticed weekend tickets are £25 including t shirt, programme and pen!
How does it compare to the Le Mans Classic(apart from the rain)?

Cheers Mark

Mark,
it's a very good weekend...not been to Le Mans so can't compare.
I'll be doing the 6 hour race.
Drop in when you're there...mine is the fiesta yellow mini.

Just a stupid question: is there also a classic Mini-only race planned on the Sunday? Or are the Mini's not coming? There used to be classic Mini-only races in Spa around this time of the year. I can't find a proper program for the Sunday...

Looking forward to this event as i've never been to Spa before and for once a reasonably priced historic meeting! (Goodwood Revival yesterday £££ )

W'ell be there on Sunday to.
I've seen the 'Swifties' a couple of times in the past, racing there Mini.
Sorry to see that there's no Mini's this year.
It's understandable anyway, as Spa-Francorchamps is just to 'fast' of a track for Mini's.
(Believe me, I know :) )
Anyway. It's a great event for people who like Historic trackraces.
So, see you guy's on Sunday.
Cheers,
Dieter.

While there is no mini-only race, minis are in three of the races on Saturday and also in practice on Friday.
I shall be going again - a good event and a great circuit.

Yesterday was a rainy, still nice raceday at Spa.
Seen several Mini's.
Gerald Dale was there with his team, aswell the Swifties, and many others.
But, as I told before. Spa isn't just the track for Mini's.
In breaking and cornering they were able to overtake faster cars. But the at the long straights
they just loose to many posistions due to lack of power.
Stil it's always nice to see Mini's race at Spa. (As it remains the 'best' track in the world ;)

I'll post some pics a.s.a.p.

Cheers,
Dieter.

Wow, what a great weekend probably the best historic event i've been to!
I agree with Dieter what an amazing place lots of history and a great lineup for all the support races and the main event.
The 6 hour race was very entertaining with a huge grid and very changeable weather conditions which was finally won by a L'weight E type against much more powerful opposition.
Also good to chat with Fred from on here and his yellow mini and well done finishing the race in very wet dark conditions which must have been pretty scary mixing it with big horsepower GT40s etc. :o
Apart from the weather which was expected well recommended.
Piccies to follow.

Cheers Mark.

Hi Mark,

it was good to meet you...nice to see people making the effort to come over to view.
considering the fact that we didn't finish the car till about 2 hours before the start of qualifying i'm happy that we made it to the finish line.
we had a primairy gear seize on the crank in qualifying
during the race we had a failing fuel pump, broken rocker shaft, loose rocker retaining nut, failing windscreen wiper.
especially the last wasn't helping during the last two hours in the rain/spray.

Hi Fred,
Yes I saw when you guy's had the rocker shaft problem.
I was standing just aside of the car.
It was the split retainer that came loose, and that's why the outside rocker slided to the side I presume.
Nice to here that you guy's finished after all with a good result.
(I didn't stay to the end as I had a 175 mile journey ahead to get home)
Still, I can only appreciate that you guy's come over from the U.K. to Belgium to race over here.
