At least this way people are aware of it and someone may be saved from a problem later on.
I have never seen a Super de Luxe before so I guess it would stand out slightly to most observers.
My original queston was about Super prefixes etc...... why so different?

Hi Trevor
The mini supers are a very rare breed indeed!! They were launched at the same time as the 997 Coopers and were almost exactly the same...apart from the engines! Duo tone body shells and seats and stainless trims set them apart from the 'lesser' mini saloons. Super production didn't last long at all though as people preferred the Coopers. That is why, if the ebay item was a genuine Super document, someone may
be able to recreate a very rare car for not a lot of money!!!
Tim.

the good thing about it,,is when it turns up ,us super owners will enjoy playing "spot -the-fake"
building a fake super not a cheap excersise, unless you have a 997 cooper as a donor
theres so many little things that give a fake super away anyway, unless the person building it knows his onions..
one to keep an eye out for

If someone takes the time and effort to build a good replica faithful in every detail why is that such a bad thing, as one more example of a rare car for people to see...........plenty of very nice enthusiast owned early Coopers, etc are not truly original in any respect or difficult to prove as such but are very worthy and desirable examples of the marque and don't deserve to be dismissed as fakes. A car with a totally proven documented history is always going to be worth more anyway on the open market if values are a concern to existing owners.

I totally agree....as long as the finished car is shown as just that- a replica! Unfortunately these cars often reappear as just found original minis which is clearly not the case!!

I suppose the problem is that the only way to "build" such a car is to use an already existing car to do so? That existing car could have been and deserves to be restored as what it really was surely? Also, as someone has already pointed out, the cost and difficulties in obtaining all the correct Cooper/Super parts would be immense - unless you nicked a Cooper to do it
.

Not 7134DD? I had that about 25 years ago. It ended up in a breakers and was plate-raped.

As long as you don't tell everyone on public forums its a 'Triggers Broom' and especially the DVLA or if you use a brand new BMH shell or did the swap to a used shell a few years ago before the rules changed!
DVLA to include Reshell or Die proposal as part of a major review of INF26 legislation:

whoever does it,,make sure it has the certain super fitments in the right places.
Only a super owner will know where these bits are..
its not common knowledge, but guaranteed sombody will pick up on it under scrutiny..
