Hello all.I have just stripped down my H4 off of my 65 1275 S andhave come across what appears to be hand engraved numbers on the oval part of the main body, does anybody know what they mean or are they likely to be just a job number.

if they are part numbers why are they hand engraved , i know the picture does not really show the number but the other carb is engraved as well but i can only make out the number 7 .The number is in the oval shape on the right side of the picture.

My carbs have the following numbers. Left 6033 and right looks like 7302 . These numbers are the same as another set of ST H4's I eyeballed.

I've had a few sets of H4's and all the carb bodies have AUC6020 on them.

Steve,
You are correct for the casting number but there were engraved numbers on the block just to the right of the 6020 number. These are what I was referring to.

Apologies, thought you meant the auc numbers. Will have a look on my two sets and see if there are any numbers.

These part numbers are always hand engraved, I have no idea why.
