Weber expert?

How do folks
Looking for a bit of advice and guidance on my weber 45. Swiftune have suggested I start with "180 jets and F16 tubes".
I have figured out that the weber I have already has F16 tubes.
What I don't know is how many "jets" it has and what the different types of jet are? I have seen reference to "main" and "air" jets but can't figure out if I need to get 180 main jets x 2 and 180 idel jets x 2?
Anyone care to enlighten me about what I need to look for and purchase?

Hi,
this depends on the type of engine and on the type of Weber’s. If you know you can install a provisional set to go on a test bed with it to correct it. A wrong set may be more forgiving than a wrong installation of SUs. That does not mean that it is easier to install.

I really suggest buying a couple of books to understand the webers
I finished building my engine last year. Wasn't looking for a rocket. I had an 850. The engine specs I have are below and how I have my weber setup. Seemed to rev nice, Initially had a flat spot using 45 accelerator pump valve. Bumped them up to 50 and that went away. I also have a wide band sensor with the AEM Wideband O2 Air/Fuel UEGO Gauge for tuning. Simplifies tuning.
1293cc
Weber 45 DCOE K& N filter
3 1/2 aluminium inlet, changing to a maniflow 5"
Sw5-07 cam.
Balanced and blue printed.
Lightened flywheel and backplate
123 dist.
10.5:1 CR
3.44 Final Drive
The carb is setup as follows.
36mm chokes
F2 emulsion tubes. F16 are fine too
160 main jets
180 Air corrector
45 F9 idle jets
50 accelerator pump valve
45 accelerator pump jets.

this is for a so called fast road version. If your hardware is different you will need other parts.

Cheers folks, I was planning on ringing fast road cars today. If you look at my project thread its a hill climb car so I am after torque and as much "go" as possible.

Oh... and I was planning on taking it to Minisport to get it initially set up as its close but sadly their rolling road man (Rob) has done his back in and hasn't been in since December

Hi,
my mini was French hill climb champion in 2005. At this time it had a five port engine with a 286° SP cam and as far as I remember a Weber 45DCOE with a 38mm choke, most times 165 Main jets, 175 Air Jets and F2 Emulsion tubes. The other parts are not so important. No one is interested what happens below 4000U/min. I installed a lambda instrument to control the mixture and this was always helpful. French hills may start at 1500meters and there you need different nozzles.
