Found this picture from 1972 showing one of my old vans, taking mother and my future wife (she's sat on a cusion in the back) out for a ride to Cheddar. This van cost me 7 pounds and a pint, the clutch had gone because the previous owner had blocked up the oilway to the primary gear and not chaged the primary gear for the later type that would run without an oil feed, cosequently all the bearing material disappeared and a wobbly primary gear chewed all the splines out of the clutch centre, easy fix with a new plate and the right gear.

My future wife and I then disappeared to Cornwall for a weeks camping holiday and it ran perfectly.

I am curious though about the registration number, I have checked the UR for the issue area and it says UR was never issued, any ideas guys.

It had been resprayed a dark bottle green colour, I added the willow green door as the old one fell off!!

UR is Hertfordshire according to my 66/67 AA handbook

UR was a Hertfordshire code until 1974, when it became a Luton one.

Another 'UR' here, Downton 997 .....

There were SO many scruffy Minivans then, providing inexpensive transport for the young weren't there! Happy days!

According to a book I have, the "UR" series of registrations, reversed in that way, were issued from September 1961 in Hertfordshire.

Yes happy days and no harm done, thanks for the info about the registration, perhaps, if it was still with us I could advertise it as ex Downton works hack, what do you think....
