Horn

Does anyone have a picture and part number of the correct horn for a '67 Cooper S?

Also, does anyone know if the mounting captive bolts are in the same position on the front panel as later cars?

I have been trying to fit, what I believe is the correct horn, but it doesn't physically fit between the oil cooler pipe and the air intake (This is the larger non-servo one on my car as I don't have a servo fitted).

Cheers

Simon

hmm, that's not what I was expecting - I thought it should have one of the lucas ones with the horn shape on it?

This picture shows a 1967 car with the same horn as above.

Here is another. It's the horn shape, on a 65 car I think it's the original.( you can just see it in the picture )

Ahh, maybe that's why it doesn't fit.
This is the style of horn I've been looking at .

I've been looking into this as I need to find the right one for my 63 car.

Lucas lists the horn as being the 9H type, they come in low and high tone. Normally the high tone variant is fitted and has the big opening facing downwards.

On the early variants the terminals were located in a different place than on the later models:

Early:

Later:

Date codes should be stamped on the back together with the complete model number. I've seen the later models with the twin terminals dated as early as 1965

The front of the horn is aluminium and the rear where the terminals are located is steel. If the horn is mounted the wrong way round it won't clear the grill. The terminals should be on the engine side.

PS if anybody has one of these horns dated 6 63 please let me know :)

I do have one that is correct for a 67 car if I'm not mistaken, email me about it.

Yeah, I've got a few of these (I can check if any are 63 ones if you want). They don't physically fit between the oil cooler pipe and fresh air intake.
I've had to move the the type that was shown before.
