Door cards mill board How thick is it

Hi. Just about to start restoring some vinyl door trim. I read countless report about the card being to thick or big from Newton. What thickness should the Mill board I buy be? Also does anybody have any little tips on refitting Mk 1 door cards without snapping or generally buggering them up. The inner door handle seems to get in the way and I can't ever seem to get my arm back out from behind the trim when I bow it into the centre of the car (this is being typed with my left hand :D !) Cheers. Mark

I don't know the thickness off hand, but I have always suspected that the thing that is too thick is the actual vinyl. The Newton stuff is certainly MUCH thicker than the original. I may get my callipers out this evening.

I'm not sure if the mill board is the same thickness between all the interior panels. But the rear parcel tray trim that I'm removing the vinyl from the mill board is 3mm thick.

Measured up a door card from a MK1 / MK2 which measured roughly 2.8mm.
Not too sure of the age of the door card though.

Yup, I agree, the hardboard is around 3mm & the newton vinyl is definitely thicker than the original stuff.
