3,5'' Steel Wheels

Post by sandro_f »

Hi guys,

A friend of mine had these wheels stored and just "found" them again :D

From what we could find they are very similar to the Cooper S wheels, but made in Spain by Lemmerz.
Does anyone have any more info on these?
Are they worth anything special?

Perhaps they were fitted to the Authi, although I think they had Rostyle or similar type wheels.

If they have the same offset as proper S 3.5" wheels, I can see them being sought after.

I was sold a set of these once by "Shuddersfield Mini Spares" They are 3.5 wide, but normal offset, unique to Authi I think.

I was told they were "S" 3.5!

Needless to say they went back quick sharp, got a refund though, so no complaints! 8-)

Probably desirable to an Authi Man! :geek:

I noticed the same wheels when I was sorting out mine and the collection of a friends. These were used in Germany and Spain from what we have been able to find out. They are similar to the S rim but the offset is different.

To my knowledge, there are two Lemmerz 3.5" 'S' wheels. E1029 and E1030, 1029 having the S offset, 1030 having the 'normal' offset.
You can't have too many cars. Just too little space...

These are wheels for Mini 1000 in 1971 in France. So... not a great value for us...

Agree with Pluto,
The Lemmerz I came across didn't have the mention "ESPANIA"
I thought Lemmerz was Belgian ... I was apparently wrong.
The photos are not very good, I fear

I m with you Etienne. Everybody in France calls these wheels the Belgian ones. (On Mini 1000 built in Belgium)

They are not mine, I will have to check.
Came across them while talking about Michelin tyres.

This reminds me I know a 71 Belgian Mini 1000 close to me, I should check which wheels it is equippd with at the moment.

Pluto, every information I have about these wheels belongs to Rémy : I called him once to check what was exactly this Lemmerz wheels I had found.

The Innocenti 998cc Mini Cooper was fitted with ventilated steel wheels, unlike the UK BMC 998 Cooper, which had plain steel wheels. Maybe the wheels you're asking were fitted on them? No idea what brakes were fitted on the Inno 998 Cooper, since it had a servo fitted, which was not on 7" disc UK 998 Cooper. link, http://www.inno-mini-world.com/welcome.htm

In Spain all the AUTHIs had the wheels made by FERGAT, an italian company that set up some production in Spain.
Spanish AUTHIs have had three different types of wheels. The most common one was the 3,5" with hubs and 4 slots for ventilation. We had as well the 3,5" and 4,5" with 9 ventilation rounded holes (as in the pictures posted above).
Finally, as Spitz mentioned, we had also the rostyle like wheels in 4,5" with two color esquemes... all silver, and the later ones in silver/black (these only fitted to the 1300 Cooper... the cousing of the Inno Export)
I've never seen those Lemmertz wheels on AUTHIs... at least not in an original one.
Hope this info helps.
Cheers.
