Really good idea, have to try it. Can I suggest caravan window cleaner as well? Designed for clear perspex, or whatever the window is made from so it can't be that aggressive.

I found that on rear lenses that had cracks on them that a couple of light coats of clear rattle can laquer works wonders on consealing cracks.

I've had good results with Brasso to polish-up dull paint work and lenses try it on a small area first, wax over to seal when finished.

Using Brasso has been around for years but I usually start with wet and dry sandpaper(400, then 600 and finer if necessary), then rubbing compound and finish with Brasso.
