Hello my name is George and i have been addicted to Minis for 24 years now!
I first got addicted when my so called friend introduced me to 1275GT. I only drove it once and that was it, totally hooked.
He introduced me to his dealer, a guy called Rodger Tello, a big dealer in the East End of London. He ran his empire from a railway arch called Mighty Minis.
I couldn't get enough so i ended up doing some work for the dealer just to get my fix.... and as they say, the rest is history.......
But seriously, that's not far from the truth!
I'm married with 3 boys, 22 years old, 20 years old and 22 months old (all into Minis).
My first Mini was a 1972 Estate that i bought after i smashed up my Datsun 1200 (looked like a MK1 Escort). I then purchased a 1962 mini with all the Cooper bits on it and still have that... found out it was a 'Super' after some research. I then bought and sold Minis as and when available at the right price. I remember turning down a Mini that had a 1071 S motor in it because i thought it was over priced at £250!!! Bought a black Estate for £50 and sold it for £150 and thought i had a result! those where the days.
Along came my children and another Estate was in the family.... top car RIP.
Been a part of the Mighty Mini scene from the beginning and met my wife through it. I've met some really good friends through Mighty Minis.
I'm a Welder/Fabricator by trade and also teach it. Done lots of work on Minis in every sense and still enjoy it.
I'm in the process of starting up my own restoration business in sunny Dorset which will be mainly BMC vehicles for customers personal use, Race and Rally prep.
Worked on most vehicles from a 1933 Talbot which required Aluminium work and bespoke Stainless exhaust, a 20/25 Special bodied Rolls, Morris 2200 full restoration! and of course the lovely Mini.
At the moment i own with my wife's consent:
Late 1962 Austin Super Mini.
Early 1962 Austin Super Seven.
Early 1962 Deluxe with a roof chop and hatchback with Cooper S on the logbook! You can make up your own mind about that one!
1965 MG1100 Ranger kit car in kit form.
1973 VW Double cab pickup.
1978 Mini Estate
All in different states of repair and will keep me busy until i'm 120!
I drive the streets in a slammed Audi 80 TDi Estate with a big smile on my face (it's only lowered because the kit was cheaper than standard!).
Love the site and check it every day... keep up the good work Mark.
Regards to you all.
