Does anybody have a definitive list of the various sizes of nuts/bolts and washers for Mini running gear and suggestions of any good suppliers online. I will be changing all of these to stainless and I would prefer to do this without having to sell a kidney! I am particularly keen to swap rear subframe and front subframe. (Mk 1 1966 S in case it makes a difference) Smiffys have them on e bay but collectively a bit expensive for me. Cheers. Mark

The bolts etc might seem expensive, but they will last a long time unlike your mini. A 66 Mk1 S going to the scrap in a few years, now that's expensive.

I agree with your sentiment. I too would like my Mini to last a bit longer although I would be disappointed to just be left with a small pile of stainless bolts (if that's all that will remain in a few years!) . I want to do it at the least cost though hence my question. Cheers. Mark

Ok, here we go again. Stainless steel against mild steel in salt water generates a potential 1.2v from the disimilar metals. A pretty good battery in itself. The stainless steel remains, but it's the mild steel that is sacrificed. The friend who worked this out checked it out by putting a new 1/4" mild steel shackle on his father's boat mooring and wrapped a piece of SS wire round it. It reduced the shackle to 1/8" inside 3 months. So do you still want SS bolts on your mild steel car?

I guess it could depend on where you moor your mini :D
