Hydro pipe repair

Has anyone repaired a hydro pipe? I have had 50% success with pumping up my Cooper the nearside leaks like a sieve and seems to be a seating problem between the pipe and the adaptor. I seem to have 3 options;
(1). cut the pipe in a hidden area replace the connecting nut and rejoin the pipe using a compression joint.
(2). cut the flair off new nut or clean the thread of the old make new flair ( there does seem to be some slack to play with.
(3). replace the whole pipe (not very keen on this option).
advice and ideas would be appreciated
many thanks
David

I had the same problem after I changed a complete hydro pipe.
There was a leak coming from the union under the master cylinders on the bulkhead. After 3 attempts at loosening and doing the union nut up again the leak persisted.
I wasn't prepared to drop the subframes again so in desperation I flattened a piece of lead to form a pliable washer which was placed into the nut under the flare end of the pipe.
Tightened it up, charged the system and hey presto, no leaks. Must have been 6 or 7 years ago when I concocted that leak repair and it's still holding out.
PTFE tape might possibly do the same job, but the leak was coming from where the pipe flare met the union.

Hi David,
We use various 'flange' sealants at work, most made by Wurth. I'm sure a smear over the seat with one of these or a similar product should do the job.
Mike.

Thanks guys, the problem is a bit worse now, having used grinding paste to seat the flange, it does look now, the threads on both the adaptor and the pipe nut have given up and stripped. I see that Somerford list both the items, so I will have to wait until Tuesday.

Pipe nut is the same as on the oil feed pipe from the block to the oil filter head adaptor. You can now impress us with an inventive bodge between now and Tuesday
