Best durable finish for chassis componnts/running gear

Would anybody care to comment on the best means of 'finishing' various bits of running gear eg radius arms, backplates, tie bars, front hubs etc. I have torn my suspension down this holiday and a lot of these items were sanded/stripped then painted black. After a few years they are flaky, rusty and generally look shabby. My question is what is the most durable: blast, electro plate where possible, etch and two pack black??? or do people have other suggestions which last longer. I have always found powdercoating to be ok till it lifts at where you tighten a bolt for example and thereafter it begins to deteriorate. All views welcomed. Cheers. Mark
