What are the preferred clips to keep the repro Morris Cooper badge on the boot lid. The ones I have used are rubbish. Don't know the correct name for them but a rectangular steel springy plate with a hole in. Cheers. Mark

The original Morris Cooper badges and 850 min badges from the 60s were pushed into round nylon inserts fitted in the holes in the bootlid. There were no spire nut type devices involved.

Does this mean the ahem 'mouse jonnies' are pushed in from the outside or do they fit inside the boot lid over the protruding badge spigots? Cheers

you put the mouse johnnies, an apt description, into the holes in the bootlid and the push the badges into them, carefully

You''ll need to check what type of badge you've got, most of the repro ones don't have the recess around the base of the location pin which allows for the head of 'mouse jonnies'. If you use these without the recess the badge won't fit flush to the bootlid, the pin centres vary a bit from the originals too.

Many thanks Bob. I have the repro type badge fitted and tried this method but the badge always stood proud. I always thought it looked naff. I assumed I was being too fussy and that was how they must have left the factory as 'it's only a Mini'. That little recess to allow the mouse jonnies tops to sit within it explains all. Amazed at the level of knowledge on this site as ever! :D Mark

You might be able to cut a recess with a Dremel if have a repro badge.

The material will be soft enough so I would think a cutter with a flat end. I think I would take the badge and mouse condom when you visit your tool supplier. If you show them what you need to do, they should be able to help you.
