Boot lid rubber seal too fat?

Is anybody able to comment on Minispares bootlid seals? When I fit mine the bootlid (original to my car) sits squarely n the aperture but it is a bugger to close and when you do the bootlid is sat proud of the opening. The seal seems to be the problem and so I wondered if anybody has experienced similar issues and if so what their solution was. Cheers. Mark

I remember reading about this, they changed the design in November 2010 IIRC because of this problem. When did you buy the seal?

I had the older seal and could not close the boot without loads of pressure, changed for the later seal and loads better, still a little tight to start but now great.

funny this, we changed the supply of these, the new ones where tested by various customers as 'perfect'
the one we fitted to the 1275gt thats in our showroom fits great.........
funny how no one ever considers if the boot appature is the correct shape, the boot lid is right, the hinges are ok etc etc

seriously the one i got is crap it just does not compress at all, boot lid, hinges and apperature are fine, old seal fits spot on but its just knackered.
maybe i ended up with an old one ????
it was almost like a solid chunk of rubber, whats the new new ones like

its yonks ago since the supply of these changed.
this is a fresh new one
the 'air-hole' in the middle is massive compared to the older sort
daft question, but you are trying to fit it the right way round, i saw an example recently that was fitted inside out and back to front

I bought one of these a year ago from MiniSpares or Somerford, cannot remember which but it did not fit. Bought another from MiniSpares a few eeks ago as I heard they made changes to this part, sue enough, this one worked much better, still a snug fit, but the decklid does close.

I've given up on my new 'proper' clipped seal now having fitted one of these from Phoenix Supplies which I picked up at a show (about £10 I think):
Item SRS126 -
http://phoenixtrim.co.uk/Documents/Mini ... 0pages.pdf
Being self adhesive, it's not necessarily 'authentic' but it looks quite neat, fits on the boot lid in the same place as the original clipped one (sticks very easily/strongly) and means I no longer have to put my full body weight against the boot when I close it! The difference is like night and day!
Cheers,
Chris

I have just put a MS one on the 970 and the first time I shut it it was a tad tight but within about a week being shut it was fine.

Gutted, just fitted the boot seal on for the second time with £10 worth of new Minispares clips to discover I was sold the previous Minispares boot seal with the smaller hole. Thanks for the picture. It clears that matter up and I am certain that a new one with more ability to squish up will do the trick. Jees, this car costs more to run than a Mulsanne Turbo...
