Now sold

MinI Cooper “S”

I will start by saying this car has a bit of a story and I want to be transparent about its history.

As the eagle eyed amongst you will have noticed it’s a 1966 Cooper S in a 1971 shell !! It maintains all of its Cooper ‘S” running gear, engine, box, wheels, brakes etc etc The shell is solid and has had some welding in the floor pans and other places.

However in the case with this one it has been correctly registered with the DVLA, so it keeps its original reg but has a DVLA chassis number.

Registered as a 1966 Mini cooper S with a later date of manufacturer

I bought it as I really wanted a cooper “S” but couldn’t justify £40k on a matching numbers car.

It has only had three owners from new and I now have lots of the receipts from the 80’s.

1st Owner Unknown but supplied to Colmore Depot LTD, Birmingham
2nd Owner Mr Perry
3rd Owner Mr Froggatt
4th Owner me

From a paperwork view is has the following :

Tax discs from
MOT’s from 1992-2010
Heritage certificate

Servicing and parts receipts from:

Lower Street Garage, Lower St, Cleobury Mortimer, Kidderminster
Monarch Motoring Centre, 20, churchfields, the horsefair, Kidderminster
Castle Garage, Corve St, Ludlow (Leyland, Austin and Mini Main Dealer)
Jack Douglas Kidderminster
R. A. Jacks Cleobury Mortimer
AB Fletcher, Great Lister ST, Birmingham
Partco Europe
Grove Garage Weybridge

V5 in my name at my address.

I bought it when its chassis number had been taken away by the DVLA but have now with lots of research and proof to the DVLA managed to keep its original registration and correct V5. (All paperwork available for inspection)

When it came to me it had a “stuck clutch” hmm well it turned out to need a new clutch and primary gear which have just been done.

So its had :

New clutch
New primary gear
Both tanks drained
Fuel pipe fixed
New needle in one carb
Brakes freed up
New battery
And general tinkering
All electrics / lights now working.
A few 000's spent with bills.

I am selling it as an ongoing project but it now runs and drives but needs more work especially a good tune up, tyres etc etc, I would renew several other bits before driving it on the road but it starts, stops (sort of!) , runs and drives !

With more work it could be used as is or fully restored or re shelled back into a MK1 shell it can be many things to many people.

Paint work looks better in these photos !!

I bought it as I have a car addiction problem !! and a challenge to see what I could do and to start to get it back to life and because I love small cars … as well as big ones !! and to save a bit of heritage !!

Unfortunately a car I had been chasing for over 20 years became availible recently so this one needs to go to create space.

Hopefully this is an honest description and it is one of those cars that is what it is, listing on here before i go the dreaded Ebay route

Based near Woking Surrey

£13995
