Hi all please see this video
https://youtube.com/...k303-mNPWUXcLA. Any ideas what this rough running /hunting may be. It started after I jump started the car with a jump pack. Was running fine before that. Now the starter bendix is firing but not fully engaging. I'm currently thinking of checking earths, then dizzy innards, points condensor etc, then the Voltage regulator which is a sold state positive earth, any advice appreciated

my past experiences with Bendex not fully throwing in..been due to the Battery not Fully Charged or also in the past have had a Burr thrown up on the Flywheel Ring Gear & that stopped the good every-time starter engagement.
Probably not your problem but .. just spent a joyfull hour draining the overwintering Petrol from both Tanks & Carbs .. that last years Petrol was laced with Brigs & Stratton Fuel Saver ..sometimes that stuff works for me but not this Winter.
But i did get some good Weed Killer .
Whatever tell us your final fix, as it can help us all understand why our cars become petulant

How old is the fuel and how long ago was it running fine? Modern petrol goes of pretty quickly these days in carb cars as unlike modern fuel injection the fuel system is not sealed from the atmosphere. Rough running / hunting is one of the common symptoms of stale fuel.

As per Peter....video unavailable
OK, rough running...hunting....most likely over rich mixture.....just like the choke is on....would look for something to do with the mixture/carb etc.
Check the SU Carb...piston not moving....
Electrical issues will rarely cause a symptom like you describe....
It may be the other issues with the bendix....more info. would help us help you.
Cheers

Not seen or heard the video, but if the engine had a poor earth when you jumped it, it may have earthed through the choke ( and /or) the throttle cable. This could cause the choke to be stuck?
Try disconnecting the choke cable and operate the choke by hand until warm.

Hi all. Got to the bottom of the problem/s. Starter issues turned out to be a gummed up Bendix, cleaned it up with some paraffin and sorted it.
The rough running was fixed by a new condensor and some fresh super unleaded fuel. Running like a treat now
