Now go easy on me everyone it's probably user error!
As some of you may know i've imported a Mk1 S from Ireland late last year. Currently trying to register it and have had the paperwork sent back for the following reason when I rang DVLA. 'Some information missing in line with Certificate of Conformity'...now i've filled in the V55 as best I felt I could with what is available for a 61 year old car/ heritage cert/ original logbook etc...but i'm baffled how you'd fill in everything as CofC's just didn't exist??
If anyone has any pointers (maybe you'd rather private message me if it's not to be in the ether) would be appreciated.

this is similar to what owners in places like France face when importing old classics, their main port of call has been the owners clubs that have assisted with the info needed.

Maybe a Heritage certificate would help?

I mentioned above we've used that as best we can, it's all very odd.

The thing about the requirement for its original certificate of conformity is that if it there was no such thing for an Irish (Northern Ireland is part of GB or Southern which ain't...) then, when it was new, then it doesn't need one now. It conformed to the road traffic legislation then in force, you cannot make retrospective legislation*.
* Not strictly true as there are a couple of specific exemptions, but no cert of conformity ain't one of them!

Suggest to look at DVLA site "Registering an Imported vehicle "..says no need for vehicle approval if car is more than 10 years old.. suggest if Car from Southern Ireland did you get the NOVA Paperwork done as that payment is all they seem to care about to then issue a V5c.
DVLA find it impossible to issue a the first V5c showing as Historic Vehicle.. solution get the V5c issued (put it on Sorn) & then apply thorough the Post Office to get the V5c showing Historic Vehicle.
