Sump guard dimensions

Post by Mpvan66 »

Hi Guys,

Does anyone have any dimensions of a sump guard( mini motorsport type) I live in Africa and getting such accessories this side is not easy and definitely expensive. I have a laser cutting guy who offered to make one for me. I would appreciate your assistance
Regards
Clay

Hi, are you talking the proper motorsport ones like the leyland ST or or a more basic traditional one?

Ah sorry, mine are the works type rally ones, but hopefully someone will come along soon with one like that.

There's quite a few Aussie Mokes over there, they all came factory with a very decent sump guard. Most owners take them off and never refit them. Might be worth looking for.

To be fair, it wouldn't be beyond the capability of a half decent bench fitter or home handyman to make a decent copy of the top sump guard.

Depending on whether it's going to be used in anger or on a show replica, would depend on the thickness of the steel of course. A cardboard or workable thin aluminium template and a jig saw (or better with a flame or laser/water jet cutter*) you'd have it cut and shaped in a couple of hours.

Wouldn't hold me up for long.
* Water jet and laser cutter equipped workshops are fairly common now. They'd do the job for cash

Thanks Peter, yeah the guy I have has a laser cutting and bending company. He will make it out of a thick sheet of aluminium for me. Need at least some dimensions to get started though.. 🤞🏽🙏🏽 it’s mainly for looks. Always wanted to put one on

Any dimensions would be a great help.

Easy to get down with a tape and straight edge and measure they all bolt to the front subframe X member. You will have to get down to fit it :!:

If it's for show then I'd suggest that a piece of 5mm alloy plate would do.
