I gave always used the exhaust gasket from. Halfords, the only advice I can give you is to clean all surfaces and don't put too much on. Just enough to seal it

Thanks for all responses.
I ended up going with Hylomar EAP5, ‘Asbestos free exhaust assembly paste’
Comes in a cartridge so easy to apply with a cartridge gun.
Seems to have done the trick

I’ve been using the same Permatex gasket sealant as I use for engine gaskets for years. Works way better than anything else in my view.
