MK1 Forum Stand at Beaulieu - 8th June
Is there any interest in a forum stand this year? I know Tim Ward organised one a couple of years back, and thought it might be nice to park together away from all the moderns.
Last year I was parked up quite a way from the main event surrounded by BMW’s and Non Minis.
Thoughts?

Re: Beaulieu Mini Cooper Day - 8th June
Get in touch early with the MCR organisers and quickly as I am sure they will be very happy to accommodate the MK1 Forum as a group. Maybe even organise a weekend event with camping in the New Forest, always good craic. The other thing is that it is also the 35th Anniversary of the RSP, not Mk1 I know but a significant bit of Mini history thanks to John Cooper. Maybe there are RSP members on here as well who would like to organise their own display or join the Forum display.

Re: Beaulieu Mini Cooper Day - 8th June - 'Mk1 Forum Club Stand' - Expressions of Interest
I've now had a response from the MCR and have completed a 'Club' Application for a stand at Beaulieu.
Initially I've put us down for fifteen cars and asked for a central location if possible.
I'd like to keep it to Classic Minis and their variants only, with a focus on external hinges, but if you want to bring one of the new fangled wind up window cars, that's great too.
Please reply here with your name so I can keep tabs on the numbers. It'll be great to see as many forum members as possible and put faces and cars to names.
Please also note, you'll need to arrange your own entry tickets. More info to follow as and when I get it.
Cheers,
Gary

If we can muster more than 15, then I will ask for a bigger stand. So far, only three folks expressing interest.hanlminiman wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 7:09 pmOnly 15 !!!!!! Surely not. Re: MK1 Forum Stand at Beaulieu - 8th June
Can't confirm 100 per cent unfortunately, but I might have my rally '64 S ready by then, and would love to put it on the stand

Re: MK1 Forum Stand at Beaulieu - 8th June
Maybe to expand the stand a bit and maybe help folks who can’t bring cars, we could also do a display of rare and interesting bits?
I won’t be able to bring a car but could easily bring stuff like my FJ smooth rocker cover, some early special tuning correspondence, original fibreglass ram pipes, speedwell stuff…
I think it would definitely be in keeping with the spirit of the forum and a lot of folks here have some great bits.
What you Lot think?

Re: MK1 Forum Stand at Beaulieu - 8th June
Couple of points..... If your car isn't quite ready Andy and anyone else, what about bringing it on a trailer to show a complete restoration job in progress. That sort of thing always attracts a lot of attention.
Annanuvver fing about the Forum and Beaulieu. What about some clever-arse computer wizard on the forum designing a small credit card sized badge showing the Forum logo (is there one.....?) with a space for a: your forum name together with b: your real name. A bit like one of those 'handshakes' where fellow brethren are able to recognise each other. Simply print it off, cut to size and stick it on your T-shirt. That said, I have already arranged with the GBnews weather girl that the weather will be fine, sunny and dry
Problem solved. The Mk1 performance forum secret society will be there, unseen but will all be able to recognise each other. So mote it be as they say.....
I'll be there but as I'm the ex police registrar I've got to be on the MCR stand. Mind you, I expect that as in the past xx years, will be the only one.

Tim brought his 1071 in semi restored state, attracted a lot of attention, and cars in similar states always are magnet when brought along to Blyton.Peter Laidler wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 10:48 am Couple of points..... There isn't a logo at the moment, I'd like to get one done at some point probably based on the BMC rosette and it's variants. I don't have those skills unfortunately.
Good idea on the sticker. If nothing else, it'd be good to put faces and actual people to the names we're all familiar with here.

Sounds like a great idea to me, plus the name badges so we all know who we aretintoptom wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 10:15 am Maybe to expand the stand a bit and maybe help folks who can’t bring cars, we could also do a display of rare and interesting bits?

Mmmmmm sounds like a plan actually. My car is rolling and the engine just about built. Keith Calver can't promise my head for a while as many will know, he has not been well.Peter Laidler wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 10:48 am Couple of points..... I’ll definitely be there this year after my sabbatical! Hopefully will have a newly panelled Super 7 in tow! Love the idea of specialist accessories and name badges. Count me in!

I've always said that Beaulieu is an awfully long way for you midland and northerners.
There are good facilities at Bicester Heritage...... or there will be in the next couple of years when it gets fully established. South Midlands and easy accessible. Maybe the Forum could think about Bicester

Whilst I'd love to have the time to organise a show from the ground up, that's a bit beyond my capacity at the moment. Of course, if anyone else wants to run it..

Re: MK1 Forum Stand at Beaulieu - 8th June
Why not organise another show based at Bicester instead of moving?
You will find that most of the organisers and helpers come from Hampshire and Dorset, why would they want to organise a show else where as a lot of the set up takes place the day before.
Another show with a new set of helpers would be the answer.
