For reference these are some of the range of plates available from Minimail.

Tim of Minimail says:
Quote: "Picture of some of the popular plates that I stock. In time I will list what they refer to but its not a clear cut reference as inevitably, there are some crossovers and there are hundreds of "experts" who will advise elsewhere."
Lots of other useful information on identity plates used on Minis is also listed:-

Thanks for the reply, its all very confusing !

Mine is a 1971 replacement shell ( Lets not go down that route !!) Its a very long story.

But I just need the right age for the shell if that makes sense.

It's the same style of chassis plate that my 1972 mini 1000 shell has.

MINIMAIL chassis plates etc - Unfortunately if you Google minimail it will say it is `permanately closed' however is is not the case and if you click `website' on the google you will access Tims site

Perhaps it should be the British Leyland one?

Logically you would think so, as the Mk3 Mini range had BL badges on the 'A' panels and was introduced just after the BL takeover of BMC in 1968. However it was not unusual for change over points/dates in BMC/BL to not be clear cut, so maybe stock of old BMC chassis plates were being used up in production before new BL plates were issued to the production lines from the stores.
