Hydrolastic displacer question

I have a question regarding the hydrolastic displacers I removed from the front subframe in this thread- viewtopic.php?t=39726
In order to remove the old corroded knuckles, I found that I had to remove the cup/cone that was attached to the bottom of the displacers so I could apply heat to get the old knuckles out. Are these cup/cones glued in-place or do they just snap into the bottom the the displacer? One of them came off while wrestling with the ball/cup in the upper control arm and the other I had to pry out to remove it.
The picture below shows the bottom the one of the displacers and the cup (upside down) that was attached to the bottom of the displacer...
What holds it in place?
