Hi All,
I purchased and have installed a standard exhaust system from minispares for the Innocenti traveller. This type is affixed to the single carb cast manifold, so the exhaust has the flare and clamp connection at the manifold end.

When installing and modifying brackets at the rear, the system still sits too low, it almost needs the downpipe from the manifold cutting down - has anyone else had issues with this and is that what people have done to over come the issue?

Any help appreciated.

Happen to have a UK '64 850 Mk1 estate on blocks at the moment, so I've snapped half a dozen pics for you to compare. This car hasn't been on the road yet but I'm reasonably happy with the way the exhaust hangs. Exhaust came to me second-hand (but unused) on a half-built Mk2 estate. It's a 2-piece and labelled AN377 on both parts.
The tape in the last pic is pressed against the top of the tunnel and there's perhaps a little perspective error: the bottom of the box is no more than 145-150mm down. I might try putting the bend (visible to the RHS in that pic) into a bender and reducing it a little, which would raise the back of the front box a smidge.

Exhaust downpipes for the 1275 engines (eg. Mini 1275GT) are 3/8" taller as the blocks are taller than all others by the same amount....so it makes you wonder whether current Mini exhaust manufacturers still allow for this subtle difference and/or use the correct tooling?

See the points. We've had a couple of these exhaust hanging woes recently on the forum. With yours, it just seems as though the problem is just a minor one...... See last picture The problem is in the bend geometry between the rear of the front box and the hanger to the rear of it. A high bit of debris will soon knock that exhaust off I'd say!

Many thanks for your thoughts, would you say it’s a matter of dropping the exhaust system and try and physically bend the section between the two box sections to bring the system inline?
