Post by Jasonking »

Anyone have any thoughts on the best type locking wheel nuts for replica Dunlop D1 alloys? Cheers!

I've had Dunlop D1's for years and don't think that I've ever seen a set of locking nuts for them. But, if you put Mini wheel directory into the search bar (above) you will probably find something useful.

Now that you mention it, if you were of a mechanical bent, you COULD get a length of, say, 5/16" A/F OCTAGONAL 8 sided (or a similar metric size) stainless steel bar and machine 4 octagonal wheel nuts - one for each wheel. Get an sized octagonal socket to suit. While it's not exactly a locking nut, it'll certainly cause a lot of confusion and grief for the would be thief

The original Dunlop wheels are driven by a large diameter ()5/16" ?) extensions of the hex nuts. The hex nuts tighten down on flat washers. No straight or radiussed tapers anywhere. That might make finding alternative locking nuts problematical

Agreed there’s not many about that are supposed to fit, JBW says that there lockers will fit but think £16 apiece is a tad steep! Thanks for all your help chaps.

As mentioned Cosmic used to do then back in the day but in all honesty what`s the point as thieves are not going to bother wasting time with wheels when they can have the whole car in a fraction of the time.
