Rover Mini Cooper - Rear Fog Light Switch Question
I have a Japanese domestic market 1996 Rover Mini Rover Cooper and the rear fog light doesn't seem to work when I follow the attached instructions from a standard Rover Mini Cooper, however I am not sure if the Japanese model fog light instructions are the same? The switch inside on the dash seems faulty as when you push it down to switch it on, it doesn't "click" on but it lights up red and springs back to off when you take you finger off the switch, therefore I assume this is a faulty switch and the switch needs to be replaced - is this correct?

Thanks for that, well the big question is, how do you turn on the rear drivers side red fog light on? Where is the switch located for that?

Re: Rover Mini Cooper - Rear Fog Light Switch Question
Am I missing something ?. Isn't the third button on your photo the rear fog ?. According to your diagram the symbol on it is the same as the rear fog, just in a different location. The only Mini I've had with factory rear fog was as said before to the right of the column on a separate switch panel under the dash.

A front fog button should have the dipped lines, missed that completely.
In the picture of the manual you have posted, 1 is rear fog (actually 3 on your dash rail as noted by Robin), 5 is front fog, is that there on your dash rail?

Re: Rover Mini Cooper - Rear Fog Light Switch Question
The later Mini centre dash panel with 5 switches. (Front Fog shown if fitted).
I don't think rear fog lights are/were required under Japanese legal requirements and often seem to be retro fitted on some cars imported back to UK from Japan?
As others have said the rear fog light switch on the earlier 4-switch centre panel Mini dash (UK Minis) was fitted in a small black plastic bracket under the parcel shelf on the right hand side of the steering column. (Blanking plates were fitted in the 2 spare positions).

Re: Rover Mini Cooper - Rear Fog Light Switch Question
Thanks for the info - when I'm next over at the Man Cave where the Mini is kept, I'll do some more checks of the switches and get with an update

Re: Rover Mini Cooper - Rear Fog Light Switch Question
Also meant to say, the 96 Mini Cooper is the 35 year anniversary model and I understand they were standard fitted with all four front lights and the bulk of these Minis went to Japan, correct me if I'm wrong
